On July 28, 2023, at The City Supermarket in Yen My district, Hung Yen province, a awareness conference took place to launch the movement: “Say no to disposable plastic products and non-biodegradable plastic bags”. This is one of the activities in response to the project: “Say no to plastic waste and plastic bags at convenience stores, supermarkets, shopping centers, and people’s markets” in Hung Yen in the 2021 – 2025 period. The conference attracted the participation of many businesses, management agencies, and owners of convenience stores, supermarkets, shopping centers, and people’s markets in the province. Also present at the conference were factories and businesses manufacturing environmentally-friendly plastic product. Hung Yen Factory No.1 (Stavian Chemical Factory) under Stavian Packaging, is one of the leading factories in manufacturing and supplying environment-friendly plastic products trusted by millions of Vietnamese families.

At the Conference, delegates were presented with data on plastic waste pollution in Hung Yen province compiled from various reporting sources. Accordingly, based on the amount of domestic waste generated in Hung Yen per day in 2021 and the proportion of plastic and nylon waste in the National State of Environmental Report of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in 2019 (3.4%-10.6%), the amount of plastic and nylon waste generated in Hung Yen in 2021 was about 17,023 – 53,072 tons per year.

From the current situation of plastic waste in Hung Yen province, environmental experts shared information on the harmful effects of plastic bags and solutions to minimize the use of non-degradable plastic bags. At the same time, supermarket owners and small businesses signed a commitment to not use disposable plastic products and non-biodegradable plastic bags at local supermarkets, shopping centers, and convenience stores in Hung Yen province.

As one of the factories participating in this Conference, in addition to discussing the harmful effects of non-degradable plastic bags, Stavian Packaging brought a series of environmentally-friendly plastic products such as biodegradable garbage bags, biodegradable food bags, biodegradable gloves… These products contain biodegradable ingredients, which help plastic bags decompose in the natural environment withinin 3 years under appropriate conditions, while regular plastic bags take hundreds of years to decompose.

Stavian Packaging wishes to expand its biodegradable products to convenience stores, supermarkets, shopping centers, and people’s markets, playing its part in creating a green environment in Hung Yen province in particular and 63 provinces and cities nationwide in general with the commitment to:

– Assist businesses, organizations, and individuals in the use of environment-friendly plastic products;

– Propagate to raise public awareness about environmental protection.

On January 30, 2024, Ms. Quach Thi Huong – Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province visited and delivered Tet gifts to trade union members & workers at Hung Yen Factory No.1 (Stavian Chemical Factory) under Stavian Packaging, Hung Yen province, on the occasion of the 2024 Lunar New Year.

During the visit, Ms. Quach Thi Huong and the Leaders of the Provincial Labor Confederation awarded 50 gifts (each worth 650,000 VND) to union members and workers with excellent achievements in production and a difficult family background at Hung Yen Factory No.1 (Stavian Chemical Factory) under Stavian Packaging. Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Quach Thi Huong also wished the leaders of Hung Yen Factory No.1 (Stavian Chemical Factory) under Stavian Packaging a Happy New Year and spent time learning the Company’s production and business situation, the tasks and life of employees, and encourage workers to continue their efforts to increase income and improve family finances. Those were meaningful encouragements from the Provincial Leaders to Stavian Packaging employees in particular and Stavian Group in general before the new year 2024.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, with the province’s 2023 GRDP estimated to increase by 10.05%, an average growth of 9.91% over the 3 years from 2021 to 2023, Hung Yen province has risen to the 7th position out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide in terms of product growth rate[1]. In his concluding speech at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia acknowledged the contributions of the business and entrepreneur community to the socio-economic development of the province over the years. At the same time, he affirmed that the provincial leaders would always accompany and facilitate businesses in their development and respect the interests of businesses[2].
